Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time anime studio Khara revealed on their Twitter account today that the final Evangelion film had made 7 billion yen (US$63,757,502) at the Japanese box office, certifying it as one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, and solidifying it as the highest-grossing Evangelion film in the franchise–in fact, it has already outgrossed the combined domestic box office totals for 1.11 and 2.22 in just 30 days after release.

In the above Tweet, Khara thanked fans for watching the film and exclaimed that “the highest records of the series are being broken.”
Though, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 is still behind Evangelion: 3.0‘s worldwide box office gross of US$67,282,623, which was achieved in 2012/2013 with a better currency conversion between the United States dollar and the Japanese Yen. But at only a mere US$5 million between 3.0 and 3.0+1.0, it shouldn’t be long until the final Evangelion film overtakes its previous film to be the highest-grossing Evangelion film of all time.
Evangelion 3.0+1.0 finally opened in Japan after being delayed twice due to the coronavirus pandemic on March 8, breaking franchise records on the first day and eventually becoming the highest-grossing film in the franchise in Japan in less than a month. It is the longest film in the franchise (not including compilations or special screenings). There is no word yet on an international release of the film.
